CPI (M) leader B.V. Raghavulu on Saturday came down heavily on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for raking up regional animosities to garner voters and retain power. Addressing a roadshow at Chimakurthi in Santanutalapadu assembly segment in favour of the CPI(M) candidate, Jala Anjaiah, Mr Raghavulu said the Grand Alliance would win 120 seats in the first phase of poll. Faced with defeat in Telangana, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy changed his tone and tenor to incite Andhras to win majority seats here.
Mr. Raghavulu took objection to the statement that if Telangana is formed, Andhras had to live like foreigners there. Saying that the Chief Minister`s son Jaganmohana Reddy has been doing all his businesses in Karnataka, he asked whether he was a foreigner there.
He said the Congress had promoted real estate mafia in Hyderabad and it would be difficult for people to live there if it was elected back to power.
He said the Congress government took up irrigation projects mainly to line its pockets with commissions. Though Gundlakamma project was completed here, farmers did not get water because the canals remain incomplete. Similarly, though work on reservoir and canals were over under Veligonda project, water could not be released for want of tunnels.
