Telangana State within one month if BJP comes to power

The BJP would carve a separate Telangana State within one month of coming to power at the Centre, said senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the decision was taken at the party’s top level. The party would initiate action on separate Telangana State in the first Cabinet meeting and then table it in Parliament.

TRS criticised
“Now the TRS is talking much less about the Telangana issue and is busy campaigning the promises made by its alliance partner TDP. The TRS lost its moral right by aligning with the CPI (M) which is opposed to the issue,” he pointed out.

Mr. Naidu, who was here to take part in road show campaigning in favour of party candidates in Warangal district, has said five decades of Congress rule resulted in rise in corruption and terrorism. “It is the Congress party which encouraged separatist forces and terrorist outfits. It lost control now and hence is trying to woo the Muslim fundamentalist forces,” the BJP leader said.

Commenting on the political scenario in the State, Mr. Naidu said no party would get majority in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP lost its confidence and self-respect while the Congress lost its public faith. The PR has some strength but not enough to secure power.

“I told that there will be hung in Andhra Pradesh six months ago. Some leaders did not believe. But, it is going happen now,” he said.

The BJP leader described the Grand Alliance as ‘opportunistic’ and was aimed at coming to power. BJP candidates M. Dharma Rao, N. Rajalingam, Vijaya Rao, Vijayapal and senior leaders T. Rajeshwar Rao and others were present.
