Film director and former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao has expressed confidence that Kapu community will continue to support the Congress and will not blindly switch its loyalty to the Praja Rajyam (PR) without considering ground realities.
Speaking to news persons here on Saturday, Mr. Narayana Rao admitted that the new political party has accentuated caste polarization of voters in the State. The caste polarization would cause some erosion in Congress vote bank, but would not affect its victory chances, he felt. He desisted from mentioning any caste or party by name but left his intentions amply clear.
To a question, he said he was not able to campaign with full vigour due to health problems that necessitated his hospitalisation.
He was addressing only two or three public meetings a day, he said.
He did not agree with the suggestion of Thammareddi Bhardwaja that cine personalities should not campaign against actors in the fray.
