Naidu making impractical promises: Jagan

Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Congress candidate for Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, called upon the people to rout the Telugu Desam Party as its president N. Chandrababu Naidu was making impractical promises to regain power.

The Congress rule gave utmost priority to farmers and undertook irrigation projects in Kadapa district with an outlay of Rs. 11,000 crore to augment irrigation facilities, he said in his road show at Eguvapalle in Pendlimarry mandal. Development of the district was possible as Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy belonged to Kadapa district.

The YSR government issued ration cards, granted pensions, Indiramma housing, implemented Rs. 2-a-kg. rice scheme, Rajiv Arogyasri and other schemes for the benefit of all sections of people, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy asserted. In contrast, the people had to make countless rounds to Government offices during the TDP rule to get a ration card or had to wait for a pensioner’s death in order to get pension.

Stating that Bramhani steel factory, a spinning mills, Bharathi and Dalmia cement factories and a woven sack unit were coming up in the district, he promised generation of substantial employment in the next year or two. DWCRA women were used as audience in meetings during the TDP rule, but the YSR government was giving them ‘Pavala Vaddi’ loans and empowered them economically.

Mr. Jaganmohan appealed to the people to elect him and the Congress candidate of Kamalapuram segment G. Veerasiva Reddy with good margins. Congress leaders participated.
