Lok Satta is a historic necessity, says JP

Lok Satta Party is a historic necessity today to give voice to common people’s silent revolt against the system that has reduced politics into business and usher in a real change for better future, said its president Jayaprakash Narayan here on Thursday.

Participating in the ‘Meet the Press’ organised by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said people across all sections were yearning for a change which was evident during his tour to different districts and their aversion to present day politics was increasing.

Lok Satta Party entered the electoral battle with a call to people to make an informed choice to make the State victorious and not the three families. Dr. Jayaprakash said their political movement was for nation’s future and not confined to winning seats alone.

To a question if the Lok Satta was perceived as a party of the educated, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said educated middle class always assumed leadership right from days of freedom struggle to achieve cherished goals. On Telangana, he said there was a provision in the Constitution for political process to achieve it.

However, without changing the system, changing capital would serve no purpose.

On the social justice plank of Praja Rajyam, he said if tickets were sold it would be called social robbery. To a question where would Lok Satta be if positive response to it from people did not translate into enough votes and seats, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said Lok Satta would still be alive and kicking.

“I do not know how many seats we will win, but we shall become a significant party not only in the State but in the country,” he said.
