KCR’s arrest stayed

Justice G. V.Seethapathy of the A.P. High Court on Saturday directed the police officers not to arrest K.Chandrasekhar Rao for a period of six weeks in the name of a case filed against him under the provisions of SC ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The Judge was passing these orders in a petition filed by the president of TRS. It may be recalled that one of the members of the TRS filed a complaint alleging that when he asked for a ticket to contest the elections he was abused by caste.

The case was registered under the provisions of SC ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Mr. Rao pleaded with the court to look into the circumstances of the case when it was launched and averred that it is a false case and is an abuse of the process of law. The Judge called for records and stayed the arrest for six weeks without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case.
