TDP lashes out at PRP leaders for remarks on Naidu

Reiterating its claim that casting a vote for Praja Rajyam would indirectly benefit the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party has condemned the remarks made by PR spokesmen C. Ramachandraiah and Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Telugu Mahila president R.K. Roja and TDP general secretary M.A. Sharif said, it was “shameful” on the part of the two leaders who enjoyed different posts in the TDP to criticise Mr. Naidu. Mr. Ramachandraiah who could not ensure the victory of TDP candidate in his own ward and Mr. Vidyadhara Rao who split the party in Chintalapudi Assembly constituency by encouraging dissension had no moral right to speak about TDP and its policies.

Ms. Roja ridiculed the PR leaders’ claims over public support to their party and asked as to why the PR rank and file was struggling to mobilise people to its meetings.

“How can leaders who cannot ensure victory of their candidates in producers’ council elections think of winning the general elections?” she questioned ridiculing the PR for promoting family rule in the party with party president Chiranjeevi giving all key posts to his relatives.

Mr. Sharif recalled the decades-long association the two leaders had with the TDP and advised Mr. Chiranjeevi not to believe them as “they can change colours sooner than later.” While Mr. Ramachandraiah used his MPLADS funds to benefit Congress sympathisers, Mr. Vidyadhara Rao did not allow the second rung leaders to get due recognition in the constituency he represented, he alleged
