Praja Rajyam

By the people, for the people, from the people's person.

Finally, the enigma called Chiranjeevi announced to the crowd of millions of fans and followers his much awaited political outfit PRAJA RAJYAM - People's Rule or People's Reign. Chiranjeevi unfolded the Praja Rajyam flag - green and white with the sun in the middle - in front of emotionally overwhelming followers.

Sheer determination and hard work put Chiranjeevi, the son of a police constable with humble beginnings, on a pedestal of popularity even the rich and the powerful would envy. In his journey to become one of the most successful actors of the Telugu film industry, Chiru garnered a fan following that spans young kids to old people. He became the role model to the youth. The name spelt success and his movies are sought after. After a glorious 30 year run of super hit blockbusters Chiranjeevi has become a household name. Now, he decided to live amongst the people with his party 'Praja Rajyam'.

"People want me to join politics" Chiranjeevi said, making a dramatic entry on the stage with outstretched arms - representing his openness and inviting others to join him. "Prajarajyam will be a secular and democratic party and the primary goal is to bring happiness in everybody's life in Andhra Pradesh (Santoshandhra Pradesh)."

Chiranjeevi charged the crowds with his childhood memories wherein he had faced difficulties like every other common man present there. A giant screen behind him and 18 other screens throughout the venue displaying the speech made the event more impressive and eye catching.

"After 30 years of success I can live a comfortable life, but I have decided to be amongst you. I am here to restore respect to politics". The actor played his role to perfection, a natural speaker and his speech was devoid of theatrics and delivered with an air of spontaneity and openness with an everlasting smile that is normally associated with Praja Rajyam's founder, Chiranjeevi.

"Fighting corruption, particularly the political corruption, will be our main agenda", Chiranjeevi said.

On the raging issues concerning the state Chiranjeevi refrained from entering a debate and spoke lightly about them. Praja Rajyam was not averse to a separate Telangana but the primary concern would be the development of the region.

Regarding the issue of SEZ's he expressed his discontent over the policies being drafted and the lands being allotted to the SEZ's. He said, "Though we are not against economic growth, we will not distribute fertile lands. Farmable lands for economic growth will undermine the farmer and we will put an end to it these practices."

"Only a few members of the society are reaping profits from the policies implemented whereas the major parts of the society - i.e., the middle class and the backward classes - are being denied the benefits which they so rightly deserve."

Chiranjeevi the 53 year old Padma Bhushan Awardee unveiling Praja Rajyam Party's vision said, "Today we are sounding the trumpet for the battle against social evils. There are no leaders in this battle - only servants. I am your servant. We will win this battle. No one can stop us."

On sensitive issues like the Maoist and reservations for scheduled castes he stated "I, alone cannot make the decision", Collective decisions shall be taken regarding the sensitive issues after a scientific evaluation and consultations with intellectuals & civil servants.

Praja Rajyam will work towards the realization of "Gram Swaraaj" a concept similar to PURA (providing urban amenities in rural areas) proposed by the former president Dr. Abdul Kalam ,who has been the inspiration for the mega star's entry into the political arena.

"I feel blessed to be standing at the feet of the lord of the seven hills amidst the love of you millions of people. Your blessings have given me a lot. Now is my time, bless me to give you back"

Let us welcome Praja Rajyam whole heartedly for a new beginning...
